For simple testing purposes and start-up of the PC CAN interfaces, a free CAN monitor (canAnalyser Mini) is installed with the VCI. This monitor can be used to display CAN messages with time stamp, message identifiers and data. A logging function enables the data received to be recorded directly to hard disk. CAN messages are transmitted via a list wherein CAN messages are entered. Installed interfaces are displayed with the available CAN controllers, the current busload and the controller status.

The driver can operate all CAN channels on the interface and furthermore several CAN interfaces (even different types) within one PC. With the IDL (INpact Driver Library) HMS offers a free driver for its INpact interfaces under Linux, INtime, RTX, VxWorks and QNX. The driver can manage different Industrial Ethernet Protocols (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Powerlink, PROFINET, ...) on the interface and supports parallel operation of several Ixxat INpact interfaces (even different types). The IDL has a common application programming interface (API) for all supported interfaces and operating systems.
With the free SocketCAN driver, HMS provides a vendor-independent API for the latest Ixxat CAN interfaces "CAN IBxxx/PCI/PCIe/XMC/PMC/PCIe104" and "USB-to-CAN V2/FD". The driver supports all CAN/CAN-FD channels on the interfaces as well as several, even different, IXXAT CAN/CAN-FD interfaces simultaneous.
